Tips for Success

  1. Know your assignment requirements such as:

    • Number of sources

    • Types of source

    • Citation format (MLA, APA, or other)

  2. Research before you begin.

    • Preliminary research will help you decide on a topic that interests you.

  3. Outline your paper. Creating a blueprint will help the writing process go smoothly.

  4. Complete additional research if needed. Be mindful of how many direct quotes you are using.

  5. Properly cite all your sources.

  6. Proofread carefully-try reading your work out loud. You’ll be surprised by how many errors you catch!
